DigiDIn-Kfz – Digital diagnostics in the motor vehicles sector
The project is developing digital instruments to support the reception skills of trainees with regard to the ability to make diagnoses in the occupation of motor vehicle mechatronics technicians and adapting existing tests to the needs of exams.
One of the main tasks in the occupation of motor vehicle mechatronics technicians is to identify the causes of malfunctions in motor vehicles. Trainees often find it difficult to analyse problems because they are unable to use and interpret technical texts and diagrams and to arrive at a suitable diagnosis strategy.
For this reason, the DigiDln-Kfz project is developing digital instruments to support the reception skills of trainees with regard to the ability to make diagnoses, i.e. the competence to generate, interpret and use information for the diagnosis of motor vehicles. In addition to this, a further digital learning instrument is being developed which uses examples of solutions to support promising diagnosis strategies. Various learning instruments are deployed depending on the competence level of the trainees.
This project is also investigating the collaborative motor vehicle diagnosis process, i.e. the joint diagnosing of motor vehicle malfunctions by more than one trainee. The aim is to record the process by using a digital assessment instrument and to provide additional support in the form of a computer-based learning tool.
Finally, the project is also looking at the assessment instruments for motor vehicle diagnosis competence and repair competence developed in the ASCOT project KOKO-Kfz in terms of deployment in final examinations. This involves investigating the extent to which performances produced by trainees in the virtual repair competence test are comparable with repair performances on real vehicles.
